Conveyors at our Widford factory switch off automatically when no bottles are detected

Our factories account for 93% of Britvic's electricity usage, but in the last five years they've reduced energy consumption by 4.62%.

This is before taking the in-house bottle blowing into account, which has actually increased energy use by 3%. However, our blowing equipment is more efficient than that of our previous suppliers and by doing it on-site we're not transporting bottles, saving 2.7 million road miles per year.

Site initiatives include reusing the hot water from preheating bottles at Widford in the pasteurisers, and investing in conveyors that switch off automatically when no bottles are detected.

Our factories have also worked with suppliers to reduce the air pressure needed to blow bottles, by as much as seven bar (18%), significantly reducing the electrical energy required to power the air compressors.
