Personal hygiene
Hair (including facial hair) must be covered in our production areas
Strict standards of personal hygiene must be followed by anyone working or visiting our factories, and appropriate safety equipment (PPE) must be worn. When entering any Britvic production area, all employees and visitors must:
- Wear protective boots and a high visibility jacket
- Wear ear protectors or plugs
- Wear a snood to cover their hair (and beard if they have one)
- Remove jewellery
- Wash their hands thoroughly with soap and warm water.
General rules include:
All ingredients, packaging, drinks in process and finished products must be stored and handled carefully to prevent contamination and the growth of micro-organisms.
- All areas should be kept clean and dry, be well lit and ventilated.
- Everything should be stored off the floor and not in sunlight.
- Adequate space should be available and storage areas not overloaded.
- Stock rotation procedures must be strictly adhered to and products not kept longer than necessary.
- Correct temperatures must be maintained where necessary and temperatures and times for defrosting checked regularly.
- All raw materials and packaging must be kept clean and covered, ie lids kept on and bags intact and kept off the floor.
- All cleaning materials and chemicals must be stored away from the raw material, ingredients and finished products.
